As promised, a blog update!

We are planning on getting legally married this summer before I (joey) goes to Argentina, so that we can be each others' emergency contacts, legal decision-makers, etc etc. when we head to Argentina later in the year. The legal process is just going to be a formality for us, and we don't want any sort of celebration or ceremony.

For our real marriage, which we want to celebrate with you all, other family, and friends we are tentatively planning for next summer or fall. Though we are going to keep working at the details, we imagine it will likely be tough to plan a marriage while in Argentina, so we are thinking it will be impossible for us to have a wedding before August 2015, and are thinking more about September or October (because August is so hot everywhere!).

Location has also been a big discussion for the past few weeks.  Ithaca is an unlikely choice, since it may be difficult to get everyone here. At this point we have a few locations in mind as possibilities: Chicago, New Orleans, San Antonio, or possibly somewhere just outside of SA. Since our friends and family are spread out across the country, we would like to find a place that is fairly convenient for as many as possible (meaning a good airport!). At this point, San Antonio has a slight lead over the other places, since we imagine that this is the only place that's really accessible for the the Mexico families.

As for actual ceremony details, we have lots of ideas but few nailed down.  We haven't come up with a guest list, but believe it will be a small ceremony (fewer than 100 people). We are considering having a portion of the ceremony outside, maybe moving the party inside, but that will likely depend on the month/location (for example, New Orleans in August = not outside).

Anyway, that's the report for now.  We'll reporting as we consider things, narrow things down, etc.  If you all have ideas/suggestions/questions, we can use the blog as a forum for those things, or we can just chat about it next time we talk to you all, of course.

Love!
